Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage until no longer pink, about 7-10 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the diced onions and minced garlic to the skillet, sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Simmer on low heat for about 30 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, 2 cups of mozzarella, and 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese. Stir until smooth and creamy.
- In a baking dish, layer a thin layer of meat sauce, followed by 4 cooked lasagna noodles, one-third of the ricotta mixture, more meat sauce, and 1 cup of mozzarella. Repeat the process, finishing with sauce and remaining cheeses on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Optionally sprinkle with fresh parsley.

Notes
Consider substituting ground beef with lean turkey for a healthier option. Use fresh herbs when available for better flavor.
