Ingredients

For the Butter Mixture
  • 4 tablespoons Butter Use unsalted butter for better control over saltiness.
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese (grated) Substitute with Asiago for a sharper taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Fresh minced garlic can be used for a bolder taste.
For the Sandwich
  • 4 slices Bread (your choice) Opt for sturdier bread like sourdough or ciabatta for best results.
  • 8 ounces Assorted Meats (e.g., turkey) Can swap turkey for ham or chicken, depending on preference.
  • 8 ounces Assorted Cheeses Use a blend of Havarti, Gruyere, sharp cheddar, or mozzarella.
For the Dressing
  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise Greek yogurt can be used for a lighter alternative.
  • 2 tablespoons Red Grape Juice Vinegar Substitute with apple cider vinegar for a milder flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning Fresh herbs can substitute for dried versions.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cracked Pepper
For the Crunch
  • 1 cup Lettuce Feel free to use arugula for a peppery flavor.
  • 1/4 cup Red Onions Substituting with green onions can offer a milder option.
  • 1/4 cup Banana Peppers You can swap for jalapeños if you prefer more heat.

Equipment

  • Nonstick Skillet

Method

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, combine softened butter, grated Parmesan cheese, and garlic powder. Mix well until creamy and fully blended. Spread the mixture generously on one side of each slice of your chosen bread.
  2. Take two slices of the prepared bread and place them butter-side down. Layer your choice of assorted cheeses, followed by slices of meats like turkey, then add another layer of cheese. Top with the second slice of bread, ensuring the buttered sides face out.
  3. Heat a nonstick skillet over low heat. Place your assembled sandwich in the skillet and grill for about 5–6 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy. Flip halfway through grilling.
  4. While the sandwich is toasting, combine mayonnaise, red grape juice vinegar, remaining Parmesan, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and cracked pepper in a bowl. Adjust seasoning based on your personal preference.
  5. Fold in the shredded lettuce, sliced red onions, and banana peppers into the salad dressing until everything is lightly coated.
  6. Once the sandwich is perfectly toasted, carefully open it up. Spoon a generous amount of the salad mixture onto one side, close it up, and slice the sandwich in half.
