  • 2 cups whole milk any brand will work, Food Lion is a solid choice
  • 1 cup heavy cream feel free to use your preferred brand, Food Lion suggested
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Kroger brand is recommended for optimal flavor
  • 8 ounces chopped white chocolate Ghirardelli white chocolate is preferred
For the Festive Color
  • 1 drops green food coloring use sparingly for the perfect hue
For the Toppings
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows Jet Puff is a great choice or homemade
  • 1 cup red heart sprinkles/candies also consider crushed candy canes

Method
 

Base Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, combine 2 cups of whole milk, 1 cup of heavy cream, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 8 ounces of chopped white chocolate. Stir continuously to prevent sticking until it begins to simmer and the chocolate is melted—about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Carefully add a few drops of green food coloring. Stir well until the color is uniform. Keep on low heat for an additional minute.
  3. Remove from heat and pour the hot chocolate into mugs, filling them about three-quarters full.
  4. Top each mug with mini marshmallows and sprinkle red heart candies or festive sprinkles.
  5. Serve immediately while warm.
