Ingredients

  • 4 cups All-Purpose Flour or mix with bread flour for chewiness
  • 2 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast ensure it's fresh
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar can use honey instead

  • 1 cup Warm Milk about 110°F or use plant-based milk
  • 2 large Eggs or yogurt/flaxseed as substitutes
  • 1/2 cup Butter or olive oil for dairy-free
For the Filling
  • 4 cloves Garlic or use garlic powder as substitute
  • 2 cups Mozzarella Cheese can mix with provolone or cheddar
  • 1/2 cup Milk Powder omit if unavailable
For the Topping
  • 1/4 cup Butter for brushing before baking
  • 1 cup Additional Cheese sprinkle on top for extra flavor

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Prepare garlic by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C). Roast whole heads of garlic wrapped in foil for 40-60 minutes until soft.
  2. Make garlic butter by mashing roasted garlic with softened butter and chopped parsley until combined.
  3. Combine warm milk, active dry yeast, and sugar in a bowl and let it sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, milk powder, and salt. Pour in the frothy yeast mixture, eggs, and melted butter to form a dough.
  5. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl and cover.
  6. Let the dough rise in a warm area for 1.5 hours until it has doubled in size.
  7. Punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle. Spread garlic butter and sprinkle mozzarella. Roll tightly and cut into 2-inch pieces.
  8. Arrange rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes until puffy.
  9. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush rolls with beaten egg and sprinkle additional cheese. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.
